Book Review | The Martian by Andy Weir

I absolutely loved everything about this. It’s been a while since I’ve read a hard science fictional novel and I’m glad that this book exists in the world. Andy Weir did such a marvelous job sticking with real science in this story, as well as the dark humor tone that comes from Mark Watney’s perspective. I just loved Watney’s character so much. He lightened the mood and there was nothing that was thrown at him that stopped him. Sure, he got disheartened, but ultimately his survival instincts would pay out in the end and he would come out on top in a really kick ass way. The only reason you wouldn’t enjoy reading this is if you get bored reading scientific terms and language, but it is worth a try at the very least because Watney makes the book enjoyable. You won’t be able to resist hoping that Watney succeeds in getting off Mars before he starves or dies. He’s also a very believable character. Over all, I give this novel 5 out of 5 stars.
